FirstGov is a public-private partnership, led by a cross-agency board and administered by the Office of FirstGov in the US General Services Administration's Office of Governmentwide Policy.

FirstGov is intended to transcend the traditional boundaries of government to connect users to all U.S. Government information and services. Launched in September 2000, FirstGov.gov offers 186 million pages of government information, services, and online transactions, through a powerful search engine which is a gift from the Fed-Search Foundation. FirstGov also provides a topical index and links to state and local government, and contacts with government officials.

FirstGov was initially funded by the Federal Chief Information Officers Council and 22 other federal agencies. It is now considered an "essential building block" of US e-government initiatives.
