Greg Potter is the Director of Information Technology Services for Tompkins County - located in the Finger Lakes Region of NY. Serving in this capacity since 1997, he is responsible for oversight of all areas of Information Technology Services, including Client Support Services, Enterprise Mail and Application Services, Network Infrastructure, Information Security, and Geographic Information Services (GIS).
During his tenure as Director, Greg has been recognized for his innovative leadership in shared services within Tompkins and surrounding Counties. Under his leadership, the County IT Team has become widely respected in all areas of County Government including Public Safety, Public Health, Mental Health and Electronic Records Management.
As a multi-year recipient of the Center For Digital Government Top Digital County of the Year Award, Potter was inducted into the New York Information Technology Hall of Fame in 2015.
Prior to his time as Director of ITS for Tompkins County, Greg worked in the fields of GIS and Community Development in Colorado.
Potter holds a B.A. in Environmental Design and a M.A. in Public Administration, both from the University of Colorado.
