Brief Bio

Dr. Lu Li is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at the University at Albany (UAlbany). Prior to joining UAlbany, she served as an Assistant Professor in the department of engineering at Schreiner University. Dr. Li earned her Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (2023), following an M.S. in Control Science and Engineering from the China University of Geosciences (2019) and a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and Automation from South China Agricultural University (2016). In 2022, she was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Built Environment (CBE) at the University of California, Berkeley, and later worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Syracuse University (2023-2024). Dr. Li’s research focuses on developing sustainable, smart, and healthy built environments. Her expertise includes indoor and outdoor air quality with an emphasis on human exposure, thermal comfort, and multi-scale energy systems at both building and urban levels. She employs computational fluid dynamics (CFD), machine learning, and digital twin technologies to advance environmental quality, improve energy efficiency, and promote occupant well-being.
