Brief Bio

Gabriela Viale Pereira is Assistant Professor for Information Systems at the Department for E-Governance and Administration at Danube University Krems (Austria) and Project Coordinator of the Erasmus+ Strengthening Governance Capacity for Smart Sustainable Cities (CAP4CITY) project for Europe and Latin America region.

Gabriela’s activities include research in electronic government and ICT-related Governance projects involving smart governance, smart cities, open data, data analytics and government 3.0. She has been working on digital government for more than 10 years. Her experience covers research at national level in Brazil and Austria, as well as EU-funded projects in the fields of electronic government, smart governance, smart cities and open data. 

Gabriela has authored and co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications on Information Systems and e-government. During the last years, she has been teaching and co-supervising thesis on digital transformation of government and smart cities topics. 

Gabriela has been track chair on Smart Governance for Smart Cities and Regions at ICEGOV, Co-chair of the PhD Colloquium and the General E-Government & Open Government Track at EGOV-CeDEM-ePart, co-chair of the PhD Colloquium at DG.O, chair of the Smart Governance Conference 2019 and a member of the Smart City Smart Government Research Practice (SCSGRP) Consortium, IFIP WG 8.5 in ICT & Public Administration and AIS.
