The University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy was again recognized as one of the nation’s top graduate programs for public affairs by U.S. News & World Report in early March. The program was also recognized as # 1 among public universities in the northeast.
Rockefeller College rose two spots from last year’s rankings, to 21st in 2019, in the magazine’s "2020 Best Graduate Public Affairs Programs." The College also was recognized for excellence in individual public affairs specialties, including a ranking of 4th in Information and Technology Management; at UAlbany, the specialty in information and technology and management is called the Government Information Strategy and Management (GISM) Concentration.
GISM was designed and is taught by a number of members of the CTG UAlbany team– including:
“CTG is proud of the role we have played in building this nationally ranked specialty,” Pardo said. “The partnership between CTG UAlbany and Rockefeller’s Department of Public Administration & Policy enriches the academic experience for students by providing direct access, whether in the classroom, through an internship, or a graduate assistantship, to the new knowledge generated from CTG’s research portfolio.”
“We are very proud to once again be the most highly ranked public affairs college at a public university in the Northeast,” said Dean R. Karl Rethemeyer. “With affordable tuition, a nearly 100 percent career placement rate, and four concentrations in the top-20 nationally, Rockefeller College provides an incredible launch pad for students beginning a career in public affairs and is a great place for mid-career professionals to build skills to reach the top.”
The U.S. News rankings of public affairs programs, completed in 2019, are based solely on peer assessment survey results. In fall 2018, U.S. News surveyed deans, directors and department chairs representing 285 master's programs in public affairs and administration. Two surveys were sent to each school and there was a response rate of 52 percent.
Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy has consistently been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's premier schools of public affairs. The College offers undergraduate - and graduate-level study in public administration, public policy, international affairs, and political science.
