Ramon Gil-Garcia, Program Associate, Center for Technology in Government
Wednesday, June 7, 2006, 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
XML has been characterized as a useful tool for Web site content management. This discussion will highlight preliminary findings of the critical success factors, benefits and challenges in using XML, as found by the five NYS agency teams over the course of
Web Site Management Using XML: A Testbed Project . The findings are based on the analysis of the research surveys and semi-structured interviews, which were conducted with the Agency teams as part of the Testbed.
The second half will be an open discussion to identify and explore other facets of the challenges and benefits of adopting XML. Depending on the interests of attendees, topics could include such areas as: what are the challenges of adoption of XML, of scalability, of competing priorities, or additional barriers faced by organizations that are interested in pursuing XML as a viable solution for Web site content management.
