Electronic Health Records: How Process-Centric Management is Transforming Healthcare
Thomas Silvious, Partner, Program Architect, CSC Consulting
In 2004, President Bush put forward the challenge to establish an Electronic Health Record for every American by 2014. To this end, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has created the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT). The new office provides leadership for the development and nationwide implementation of an interoperable health information technology infrastructure to improve the quality and efficiency of health care and the ability of consumers to manage their care and safety. This presentation will give an overview of the national effort, and examine the issues that Federal, State and Local governments must solve to get ready.
