Comparison of State IT Governance Elements: Overview

The following table offers a comparative review of the broad elements of IT governance at work within each of the thirteen states. These descriptive elements, which include the basis for the state’s IT authority and the presence of an IT strategic planning document, provide a high-level overview of how the states conceptualize IT governance. The comparison demonstrates that while there are some overall trends in IT governance across the thirteen states reviewed, there is also great diversity in names, titles, and the underlying authority frameworks within their governance processes.
