As part of CTG's ongoing work with the U.S. Library of Congress, CTG launched its Web-based survey on state government digital information preservation to the state librarians, archivists, and records managers of all fifty states and several territories. Respondents will have six weeks to respond and the results will be compiled into a report that summarizes state government digital information preservation activities by state and across states. The report is intended to be a vehicle for states and the Library of Congress to share knowledge and identify opportunities for digital preservation partnerships and will be made available on CTG's Web site.

In addition, two new resources have been added to CTG's Library of Congress project pages:

• Preservation of State Government Digital Information: Issues and Opportunities Report of the Library of Congress Convening Workshops with States.The Library of Congress convened three workshops with representatives from all 50 states during 2005 to listen and learn about how states are coping with the digital preservation challenge. CTG staff played a key role in planning, facilitating, and analyzing the results of the workshops. Findings from the workshops are outlined in this report.
• Regulatory Impacts on E-Records Management Decisions Prepared by the NECCC Records Management Workgroup.As part of CTG’s project with the Library of Congress, CTG staff participated in the NECCC Records Management Workgroup and contributed to this paper. This NECCC workgroup paper seeks to describe and discuss the impact on state and local public agencies of the unintended results created by new regulations and changes in regulatory assignments by the federal government. Several case studies are highlighted to show what jurisdictions are doing to solve this issue.

The interactive version of CTG’s “Sharing Justice Information: A Capability Assessment Toolkit” is now available, and is being hosted on the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Program’s Web site, at http://catoolkit.ojp.gov. The online tool allows for online collection; summarizes data; and provides tools to facilitate use by large numbers of participants in distributed environments.

At the 39th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences on January 4-7, 2006, CTG was awarded best paper in the E-Government Track. The HICCS conference is one of the best working conferences in computer-related sciences, with a high level of interaction among leading scientists, engineers, and professionals.
