“An intense one-week long institute on how to bridge academia with practitioners in the domain of digital government; oh and it is interdisciplinary! It is an institute that will force you to extend your thoughts of digital government and to think outside the box. It is a portal that will allow you to get a glimpse of the real world in one short week.”

Personal Background
I finished my master in Public Administration from Zhejiang University, China, in 2005. And then I got the chance to pursue my Ph. D in Public Administration at Arizona State University. Currently, I am a second-year doctoral student at School of Public Affairs, ASU. Interested in Information Technology policy and e-government, I have taken some relevant classes and done some research relating to digital government at ASU.
Interest in the Field of Digital Government
I have great interest in a number of research topics in digital government, such as impacts of IT on organizational structure and performance, e-democracy, and public management innovation in e-government building. It is a fascinating challenge to study how the government, as an essential role in the Information Age Society, utilizes ICT to transform its service provision, to engage citizens, to motivate innovation, and to meet all kinds of emerging challenges. I am interested in the Institute to gain updated information about the philosophies, themes, methods of digital government studies in an international context. As an international student, I have the advantages in conducting comparative studies on E-government issues, especially comparative analysis between American government’s efforts with Chinese government’s efforts to build E-government. It would be challenging and valuable to investigate how these two big players are devoted to building their national information infrastructure and employing IT in their public service.
