Countries/Regions of Interest
My research interest is not location-specific other than being related to global governance issues. However, by origin and experience, I have an interest in challenges and responses of African countries in an evolving and ICT-enabled global environment.
Personal Background
I am working on an eGovernment project called “eGovRTD2020,” which is funded by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme, Information Society Technologies (IST). The University of Koblenz-Landau is the coordinator of this project and hence I learned a lot, not only about research methodologies and the eGovernment topic itself, but also about project management and project management related challenges that are not easy to handle, in particular the coordination of a multi-cultural project team.
Interest in the Field of Digital Government
Out of this project I am writing my Ph.D. thesis about Roadmapping eGovernment research: How to direct future eGovernment research? My Ph.D. thesis aims at developing and conceptualizing a proper methodology for eGovernment research governance. Even though my research perspective is strongly influenced by the European project environment, my Ph.D. needs to take an independent view. From participating in your Ph.D. colloquium I expect to widen my horizon in the field and in academic working approaches. Consequently, the objective to participate in your Ph.D. colloquium is to experience and learn complementary ways of looking at eGovernment / Digital Government as a research discipline, and to exchange academic working methods. Although eGovernment became its own research discipline over the last years, it is still in its infancy in comparison to many other research disciplines. A common understanding has not yet been formed in many aspects. Likewise, proper research methods, tools, and concepts are missing. For me this research area and these challenges of multidisciplinary, complexity and international characteristics are fascinating.
