Theresa Pardo participated in a two-day planning meeting in London, UK on
Opening Government Re-Thinking Government, Re-Imagining Democracy. The meeting was organized by The Governance Lab (GovLab) and NYU Wagner and supported by the MacArthur Foundation to develop a strategy for using technology to create more collaborative ways of governing to tackle the world’s hardest problems. The group talked through their shared understanding of open and peer progressive governance; focusing on how the techniques and technologies of open and participatory governance can help us tackle hard, real world problems; and examined these questions from the perspective of specific disciplines – with a focus on the potential of data science. Working groups developed specific high impact projects to refine the understanding of this new and evolving political theory for the digital age. participated in conversations that tackled the major shifts in governance being enabled by new technologies. Discussions drilled down to specific projects and problems – plantings the seeds of what will grow into the foundations of Government in the Lab's potential research and project agenda.
