Rockefeller College MPA students taking PAD697 recently presented their guided research projects on open data. PAD697 was taught by Sharon Dawes, Natalie Helbig, and Theresa Pardo to explore in depth a variety of perspectives on the open data movement and its implementation in different governments and cultures. Students prepared individual research papers on selected subtopics, presented posters at the International Conference on the Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV2012), and finished the semester with a joint panel discussion at CTG. Their topics included: The Value of Transparency (Jim Levy); Open Data Value for Developing Countries (Lesley Adewunmi); Determining the Economic Value of Open Data (Dean Hill); Open Data and Modernizing Public Service (Yeife Hu); Accessibility and Open Data (Huina Hu); and Opening Energy Data (Ximin Zou).
